Just 30 km from our campground in Saint-Brieuc, set out to exploreErquy, one of the most charming seaside resorts in the Côtes-d’Armor. Known as the “capital of the scallop,” Erquy charms visitors with its ten fine-sand beaches, its authentic fishing port, and its pink sandstone headland, which has held the “Grand Site de France” designation since 2019.

From your campground near Erquy, you can reach exceptional natural and maritime landscapes in just half an hour: sculpted cliffs, blue lakes nestled in old quarries, and a pristine coastline to explore on foot along the GR34. Erquy is also the gateway to Cap Fréhel, a few kilometers to the east, and the starting point for numerous excursions along the Côtes-d’Armor coastline and the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.

Things to Do in Erquy

From your campground near Erquy, a wide variety ofoutdoor activities await you:

  • Hiking on the GR34: The Sentier des Douaniers trail runs along the cliffs of Cap d’Erquy and the dunes of Ville Berneuf, offering spectacular views of the bay. An 8-km loop takes about 2 hours to complete.
  • Swimming and relaxation: ten beaches with fine sand, including Plage du Centre, Plage de Caroual, and the wild beaches at the cap, with lifeguards on duty during the summer.
  • Boat tours: Come aboard the Sainte-Jeanne, a replica of a Breton sloop, for a cruise on a historic sailing vessel in the bay. Speedboat excursions to the Cap d’Erquy and Cap de Fréhel are also available from the harbor.
  • Beachcombing: Spring tides reveal a vast intertidal zone—a paradise for shellfish.
  • Trail running and nature runs: The famous “Landes et Bruyères” trail race takes place every spring in the Landes du Cap region.

Foodies won’t be left out: the restaurants along the harbor serve scallops in every possible form—sautéed, as carpaccio, or au gratin. Flower Camping des Vallées is located 30 km from Erquy, about a 30-minute drive on the expressway. You can also reach Erquy by public transportation using the BreizhGo 202 line (Saint-Brieuc–Plévenon), which departs from the Saint-Brieuc train station, just a 15-minute walk from the campground.
