Less than an hour from your campground in the Côtes-d’Armor, the Pink Granite Coast offers one of Brittany’s most spectacular landscapes. From Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden, along nearly 30 kilometers of coastline, imposing pink-hued granite outcrops rise up facing the Atlantic, sculpted by the wind and the sea for over 300 million years.
A landscape unlike any other in the world—along with Corsica and China, Brittany is one of only three places on the planet where this copper-tinged granite can be found.
Exploring the Pink Granite Coast is a series of thrilling experiences: the Sentier des Douaniers trail winding through the rocks, a cruise to the Sept-Îles National Nature Reserve, lively seaside resorts, and charming villages. Perros-Guirec also features a casino, fine sandy beaches, and a full-service water sports center. In Trégastel,the marine aquarium nestled beneath the rocks delights visitors of all ages. And in Pleumeur-Bodou, the Radôme complex features three family-friendly attractions: the Planetarium, the Gallic Village, and the Cité des Télécoms.

Must-See Attractions on the Pink Granite Coast
Great days ahead for you! The village of Ploumanac’h, voted France’s favorite village in 2015, is the jewel of the Pink Granite Coast. This former fishing hamlet, now a major tourist destination, is home to a protected natural site spanning more than 25 hectares, owned by the Conservatoire du littoral, where the piles of pink granite sometimes reach twenty meters in height.
The Mean Ruz Lighthouse (“red stone” in Breton), rebuilt in 1946 using local pink granite after it was destroyed during World War II, is one of the most photographed landmarks in Brittany. On Saint-Guirec Beach,the oratory dedicated to the saint of the same name houses a statue whose nose has been worn down by a local tradition: young women used to stick pins into it to ensure they would get married within the year.
Off the coast of Perros-Guirec,the Sept-Îles archipelago is France’s largest bird sanctuary. A guided boat tour takes you to see colonies of northern gannets, Atlantic puffins, crested cormorants, and gray seals, accompanied by a nature guide from the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds), based onÎle-Grande. Further west, Trégastel charms visitors with its 12 sandy beaches, the Renote Peninsula (designated a “site of outstanding natural beauty”; a full tour takes about an hour), and the mysterious Château de Costaérès, a neo-Gothic manor perched on a small island. Trébeurden, a hidden seaside resort, overlooks Lannion Bay from its granite promontory. Finally, Lannion, a charming town with cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses, is well worth a stop for a culinary treat on market days.

Hiking and Outdoor Activities on the Pink Granite Coast
The Sentier des Douaniers (GR34) is the premier route for exploring the Pink Granite Coast on foot. The most famous section connects Trestraou Beach to Saint-Guirec Beach, passing through the rock formations of Ploumanac’h: allow about 3 hours for these 8 kilometers of pure joy.
With every turn, the scenery changes: golden-sand coves, whimsically shaped rocks—Napoleon’s hat, a turtle, a mushroom—and heathland dotted with heather and maritime pines. Plan on spending at least half a day here, as each view invites you to linger, especially at sunset when the light sets the granite ablaze.
On the coast, there’s no shortage of activities: catamaran sailing, windsurfing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and coastal hiking at the Perros-Guirec water sports center; scuba diving in the clear waters of Trégastel; and horseback riding on the beaches. For a deep immersion in nature, explore the Traouïéro Valley, a protected site between Trégastel and Ploumanac’h, where granite boulders stand alongside a moss-covered forest crossed by a stream—a place steeped in Breton legends.
